This educational session aims to enhance general practitioners’ understanding of endometriosis, a chronic and complex condition in which endometrial-like tissue occurs outside the uterus, leading to varied and often debilitating pain presentations.
Participants will explore the multifactorial pain mechanisms underlying endometriosis and review pharmacological and non-pharmacological management options to provide effective, individualised care. The program highlights current, evidence-based resources and referral pathways to support GPs and their patients throughout the endometriosis journey — from early recognition and diagnosis to long-term management and follow-up.
A self-reflective component encourages participants to assess their confidence and knowledge before and after the session. Through peer discussion and real-world case application, participants will strengthen clinical reasoning, improve patient communication, and identify opportunities for collaborative, multidisciplinary care.
By completing this activity, participants will be able to:
-
Describe the mechanisms and presentations of endometriosis-associated pain.
-
Identify and apply both pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies for symptom management.
-
Utilise evidence-based resources, referral pathways, and multidisciplinary supports to assist patients.
-
Reflect on their own clinical approach to endometriosis before and after the session, identifying areas for growth.
-
Engage in peer discussion to gain new insights and strengthen collaborative care strategies.
By providing knowledge and awareness of the reliable up-to-date resources that are available to support them and their patients through the endometriosis journey.
Request proactively on patient’s journey pre-endoEDge program session compared to after session – does the patient feel there has been a difference? Does the participant also feel more confident in managing their endometriosis patients during a self-reflective session? Do further discussion with peers provide greater insights into the individual’s learning?
