A multidisciplinary event covering a range of topics.

Please join us for this half-day CPD forum designed for General Practitioners. It delivers contemporary clinical updates presented by a multidisciplinary faculty, with a clear focuson real-world general practice and culturally safe clinical application. Sessions will cover pharmacogenomics, osteoporosis, weight management, gynaecology (including cervical self-collection), and dermatology, framed through culturally safe practices relevant to Australia’s diverse patient populations. Content includes perspectives from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander subject matter experts to support culturally informed, patient-centred conversations around complex and sensitive health issues. The program is practical, evidence-based, and immediately applicable in general practice. Optional resource: Participants may indicate interest in receiving a myDNA test kit as part of their registration.

Dr Charles Xie
MBBS BMED SCI MPHIL FACD

Dermatologist

Dr Charles Xie is a fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists and a consultant dermatologist at the Northern Hospital, and at Healthy Skin & Surgery, his new clinic at 42 Carlisle Street, St. Kilda. Charles completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne, followed by four years of specialized dermatology training. During this time, he gained extensive clinical experience across Melbourne’s major teaching hospitals and clinics. Prior to his dermatology training, he conducted a master’s research on the diagnosis and prognosis of melanoma, which was published in leading dermatology journals and presented at national and international conferences. In recognition of his research, he received the Adrian Johnson Memorial Prize for the best registrar paper in the Australasian Journal of Dermatology, along with other awards and scholarships. Dr Xie’s areas of expertise include the diagnosis and management of skin cancer, eczema, and psoriasis.

Dr. Sam Mostafa
PhD, BPharm

Pharmacist

Dr. Sam Mostafa is the Clinical Director at myDNA, where he oversees the delivery of specialised clinical pharmacogenomic services. With an international footprint spanning Australia, Europe and the USA, Sam specialises in the translational implementation of genomic data into routine clinical care. He is a key contributor to national policy as a member of the RCPA Advisory Committee for pharmacogenomic indications. Committed to advancing the field through education, Sam holds academic appointments at Monash University and the University of Sydney, where he supervises PhD-level translational research.

Dr Danielle Carter

MBBS FRACGP MPH&TM MBA DCH

General Practitioner

Dr Danielle Carter is an Aboriginal General Practitioner with advanced qualifications in public health, tropical medicine, and child health, and holds the academic title of Senior Lecturer at Griffith University’s School of Medicine. Her career reflects a strong commitment to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres StraitIslander peoples, particularly in maternal and perinatal care. Dr Carter has contributed to national guidance as the author of Chapter 5, Preconception and Pregnancy Care, in the National Guide to Preventive Healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. She brings expertise in clinical care, data analysis, patient safety, and consumer engagement. Dr Carter is dedicated to advancing equitable healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by supporting the implementation and evaluation of initiatives designed to improve outcomes in rural, remote, and culturally diverse communities.

Dr Tomasz J. Block

BBiomedSc BSc(Hons) MBBS FRACP

Endocrinologist

Dr Tomasz Block is a clinical and academic Consultant Endocrinologist with appointments at Alfred Health and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute in Melbourne. He undertook Specialist Training in Endocrinology at Monash Health, the Royal Hobart Hospital, and Alfred Health. He is also completing an NHMRC funded PhD in the Department of Diabetes within the School of Translational Medicine at Monash University. His clinical and experimental research includes the development of novel therapies for diabetes and cardiometabolic complications, obesity management, and metabolic bone disease. He has several publications in these areas with some specifically for GPs in Endocrinology Today and Australian Doctor, including Osteoporosis in Men: underestimated, underdiagnosed, and undertreated, Adult-onset Type 1 Diabetes in Adults, and Maturity-onset Diabetes of the Young. Dr Block has presented at numerous national and international conferences, winning several presentation awards and prizes, in addition to receiving research funding from the Australian Heart Foundation and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia.
