Brief Overview
This practical, hands-on workshop is delivered in collaboration with Carbone Lawyers and is designed for GPs, allied health professionals, and practice administrators. The session demystifies complex medico-legal processes, including navigating TAC and WorkCover systems, preparing compliant medical reports, and understanding recent legislative changes. Participants will gain clarity on medico-legal obligations and patient advocacy strategies to improve care outcomes.
Program Details

· Accurately apply medico-legal requirements to clinical documentation

· Support patients through TAC and WorkCover processes with confidence

· Recognise when legal or financial advocacy is needed and how to refer appropriately 

· Drafting clear, defensible medical reports

· Identifying key medico-legal risks in patient management

· Applying structured approaches to outcome measurement in compensation-related cases 

· Participants reflect on their own medical report writing and documentation practices

· Encouragement to audit recent WorkCover/TAC-related cases for compliance

· Peer-to-peer discussion of medico-legal challenges in practice team meetings

Participants will:

· Understand the latest WorkCover legislative changes and their implications

· Improve confidence in navigating TAC and workers’ compensation schemes

· Gain knowledge about superannuation, incapacity, and TPD access for patients
