Brief Overview
This educational session provides general practitioners with an overview of emerging, evidence-based treatments for treatment-resistant depression and related mood disorders, focusing on Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Ketamine therapy. Participants will gain insight into the mechanisms of action, clinical indications, and referral criteria for these advanced psychiatric treatments. The presentation will also address patient selection, safety considerations, and the GP’s role in identifying suitable candidates, monitoring outcomes, and coordinating care with psychiatry specialists. The session aims to build awareness and confidence in discussing these novel interventions with patients while reinforcing the importance of multidisciplinary, evidence-based mental health management.
