What the Mouth Shows First: Eating Disorders, Medications and Diabetes
What the Mouth Shows First: Eating Disorders, Medications and Diabetes
2026/10/21 19:00

Your patient's mouth often shows what they have not told you yet. Eroded enamel can appear before someone is ready to talk about eating. A dry mouth can be the first sign a new prescription is not sitting well. Bleeding gums can be the thing that changes a diabetes review.

In thirty minutes I will take you through those three presentations. What to look for, what each one tends to mean, and what you can reasonably do about it inside a standard consultation. You will leave with a referral pathway you can use, including telehealth psychology and dietetics for adult patients who cannot easily get to a clinic.

Written for GPs, registrars and practice nurses. No dental background assumed, and there is time for questions at the end.

Presented by Dr Sandhya Jaswal, Registered Dentist and Clinical Director, Continuum Teletherapy and Allied Health.
