I’ve added that concept in a way that is engaging for doctors while keeping it clinically grounded and avoiding sounding like a dismissal of cognitive approaches.

Expanding the Pathways to Trauma Recovery

For many clients experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, or PTSD, one therapeutic approach alone may not address every stage of recovery. Trauma is not only held in thoughts and memories—it can also be experienced through the nervous system, emotions, body responses, and patterns of behaviour. This is why recovery often requires more than simply talking about what happened.

You can’t always think your way out of trauma.
While insight and understanding are important parts of therapy, trauma recovery often requires approaches that help clients process and clear traumatic memories, regulate their nervous system, rebuild safety, and develop new emotional experiences. This is where an integrated model of care can create powerful opportunities for change.

I provide a flexible, trauma-informed pathway that allows clients to move between different therapeutic modalities depending on their individual needs, goals, and stage of recovery.

EMDR and Clinical Counselling – Bondi Junction
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a recognised trauma therapy designed to help clients process distressing memories and reduce the emotional intensity attached to traumatic experiences. Clinical counselling supports insight, emotional understanding, coping strategies, and the development of healthier patterns moving forward.

Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy – Malabar
Trauma recovery is also about rebuilding emotional regulation, confidence, trust, connection, and resilience. Equine-assisted psychotherapy provides an experiential environment where clients can practise these skills in real time, learning to regulate emotions, recognise body responses, establish boundaries, and build confidence through interaction with horses.

Residential Trauma Retreat – Rainbow Flat
For clients requiring a more intensive pathway, the Rainbow Flat residential trauma retreat provides a focused therapeutic environment away from everyday pressures. Intensive EMDR treatment delivered over several consecutive days is an emerging area of trauma care, with research demonstrating that concentrated trauma-focused interventions can produce significant therapeutic improvements for appropriately selected clients. For some individuals, this may provide meaningful progress in a shorter timeframe compared with traditional weekly therapy delivered over many months.

By combining trauma processing, emotional regulation, resilience building, and intensive therapeutic support, clients can access the right intervention at the right stage of their recovery journey.

I would welcome the opportunity to have a brief conversation with you about how this combination of therapeutic models is helping clients achieve meaningful results and when it may be appropriate as a referral option for your patients.

With extensive experience supporting insurance and compensation clients, I work with individuals recovering from workplace injuries, motor vehicle accidents, psychological injuries, PTSD, anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, and complex trauma presentations.

I value collaborative relationships with GPs, psychiatrists, specialists, insurers, rehabilitation providers, and case managers to ensure coordinated care and effective support for your patients.
