Brief Overview

This face-to-face session introduces a new men’s-focused clinical psychologist and provides general practitioners with greater confidence in identifying and addressing men’s mental health needs. The session outlines referral pathways, discusses common barriers men face in seeking psychological support, and highlights tailored strategies for engagement and early intervention.

Program Details

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Recognise the unique presentation and challenges associated with men’s mental health in primary care settings.

  2. Increase confidence in initiating supportive conversations and identifying men who may benefit from psychological intervention.

  3. Understand the referral pathways and processes for accessing the new men’s-focused clinical psychology service.

  4. Apply practical strategies to engage male patients and reduce stigma around seeking mental health support.

  5. Collaborate effectively with clinical psychologists to ensure integrated, patient-centred care for men experiencing psychological distress.
