What's Good for the Heart is Good for the Brain!

This multidisciplinary educational meeting explores why addressing cardiometabolic health is also critical for brain health, and offers practical, evidence-informed prevention strategies for everyday clinical practice.

Chair
A/Prof. Karam Kostner is a cardiologist and lipidologist at the University of Queensland, Director of Cardiology at Mater Public, and senior cardiologist at Advara, Brisbane. He runs a large lipid clinic and directs Cholesterol Care Australia. He has led more than 65 lipid-lowering clinical trials and published over 150 papers.

Speakers
Prof. Jane Alty is a Professor of Neurology at the University of Tasmania and a Neurologist at the Royal Hobart Hospital, specialising in cognitive neurology and movement disorders. Her research uses AI to detect and track the preclinical and prodromal stages of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, including through the ISLAND one-stop cognitive clinic and the BRAIN Project.

A/Prof. Gary Kilov AM is the founder of the Launceston Diabetes Clinic and a Clinical A/Prof. in General Practice at the University of Melbourne. He co-founded the Primary Care Diabetes Society of Australia and contributes to the RACGP Diabetes Handbook. He speaks nationally and internationally on diabetes, obesity and chronic disease management.

Hayley Sullivan is an Accredited Practising Dietitian working across weight management, bariatric surgery, GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy, type 2 diabetes and binge eating disorder in multidisciplinary clinics in Brisbane.
