This educational program enhances general practitioners’ understanding of endometriosis-associated pain and the multifactorial mechanisms that contribute to its presentation. Participants will learn about both pharmacological and non-pharmacological management options, and gain awareness of reliable, up-to-date resources available to support patients through their endometriosis journey.
The session encourages a proactive, patient-centred approach, helping clinicians identify early signs of endometriosis, improve diagnostic confidence, and tailor management strategies to individual needs. Through discussion, reflection, and peer learning, participants will explore practical ways to improve communication, care coordination, and patient outcomes.
By completing this activity, participants will be able to:
-
Describe the pathophysiology of endometriosis, including how endometrial-like lesions outside the uterus contribute to symptoms.
-
Recognise that endometriosis-associated pain arises from multiple interacting pain mechanisms that may present differently in individual patients.
-
Identify and apply a range of pharmacological and non-pharmacological management options for patients with endometriosis-associated pain.
-
Access and utilise reliable resources and support services to enhance patient consultations and ongoing management of endometriosis.
By providing knowledge and awareness of the reliable up-to-date resources that are available to support them and their patients through the endometriosis journey.
Request proactively on patient’s journey pre-endoEDge program session compared to after session – does the patient feel there has been a difference? Does the participant also feel more confident in managing their endometriosis patients during a self-reflective session? Do further discussion with peers provide greater insights into the individual’s learning?
