Does Stooped Posture Shape Pain & Quality of Life?
Does Sagittal Alignment Shape Pain & Quality of Life?
You’re invited to our educational evening at the ScoliCare North Clinic. Enjoy an evening of drinks, canapés and networking with your peers. Free parking available.
What You Will Learn
- Principles of Sagittal Balance
Gain an in-depth understanding of sagittal alignment, spinal balance, and the biomechanics that underpin healthy posture and movement.
- Measuring Sagittal Parameters
Learn how to accurately measure and interpret key sagittal parameters, including pelvic incidence (PI), sacral slope (SS), pelvic tilt (PT), lumbar lordosis, and sagittal vertical axis (SVA).
- The Link Between Sagittal Profile and Pain
Explore the growing body of evidence showing that loss of sagittal alignment is strongly associated with increased pain, reduced function, and disability. Understand how even small imbalances in spinal curvature and pelvic parameters can increase energy expenditure, lead to muscle fatigue, and contribute to conditions such as chronic back pain and compensatory joint degeneration.
- Compensation and Degeneration
Learn how patients, particularly as they age, compensate for sagittal imbalance through mechanisms such as pelvic tilt, knee flexion, and cervical hyperlordosis—and why these strategies often fail over time, leading to worsening pain and disability.
- Classification Systems and Assessment Tools
Discover practical frameworks such as the Roussouly and Schwab classifications, and learn how to apply clinical assessment tools in everyday practice to identify risk factors for pain and dysfunction.
- Implications for Patient Management
Understand how ScoliCare works collaboratively with healthcare professionals to support co-management of patients with scoliosis and sagittal alignment issues, helping to reduce pain and improve long-term patient outcomes.
